Late Season Winter Storm To Last Through Monday

A strong late season winter storm continues to move through northern California, and forecasters with the National Weather Service in Sacramento said Sunday it will bring more rain with scattered thunderstorms, heavy mountain snow, and gusty winds through Monday.

A flood warning has gone into effect until 6pm Sunday night in several counties, including parts of San Joaquin, Solano, Sacramento, Yolo, Sutter, Yuba, Calaveras, El Dorado, Amador, Placer and Butte counties.

Several feet of snow are in the forecast across the Sierra, and the possibility of snow means there could be travel concerns, especially through Monday morning. Thunderstorms are possible in valley locations into Monday. Some thunderstorms might be strong during the balance of weekend, producing heavy rain, hail, and possibly even a few weak tornadoes.

Areas burned in wildfires over the past year may see heavy runoff during the rain in Shasta County.

Northern California could see scattered rain and snow showers into Tuesday, as the storm leaves the region. However, precipitation amounts are expected to be light by that point.
