Explosion In Homeless Encampment In Sacramento Leaves 2 Injured

A small grass fire broke out after an explosion at a homeless encampment this morning. Two people were injured after trying to start a fire using gasoline. A women and a man were both taken to UC Davis Medical burn unit to be treated for their injuries. According to fire officials, the man was burned on about 80 percent of his body and the woman was burned on the lower half of her body. Fire officials on scene explained how dangerous it is to use gasoline for anything other than in a motor vehicle. Greg Powell, with the Sacramento Fire Department, explained that vapors from being in a confined space are what caused the explosion to occur.
