Yearly Lake Tahoe Summit Gets Started

Senator Dianne Feinstein is hosting the 23rd annual Lake Tahoe Summit, which got underway Tuesday in South Lake Tahoe. The summit is meant to highlight the continuing efforts to protect and preserve Lake Tahoe.

Governor Gavin Newsom delivered the keynote address on Tuesday. He said climate change remains one of the most pressing issues not only for the lake, but for all of California.

Also planned for discussion at the at this year's event is the threat of wildfire in the Tahoe Basin and how best to address that threat.

The first Lake Tahoe Summit took place in 1997 with the help of President Bill Clinton and Vice President Al Gore.
