Asians Living Longer Than Other Ethnic Groups In San Francisco

There is a new study out which shows Asians are outliving all other ethnic groups in San Francisco. The study authors found that the average Asian in San Francisco has a life expectancy of 87-years, which is two-years longer than the average Latino, five-years longer than Caucasians, and 15-years longer than African Americans.

Researchers also said they think the top reasons for a longer lifespan among Asian Americans are greater access to healthcare and healthier diets.

Asians account for about a third of the people living in San Francisco, and among those people the single largest ethnic group in The City is Chinese Americans.

The full report will go to the Health Commission for an adoption vote on May 21st. The commission is the governing and policy-making body of the Department of Public Health in San Francisco.
