The maker of the weedkiller Roundup is being ordered to pay over two-billion-dollars to a couple who said the chemical caused their cancer.
A California jury sided with Alva and Alberta Pilliod, saying Roundup caused their non-Hodgkin's lymphoma. The jury said each was due a billion-dollars in punitive damages, as well as tens of millions of dollars in compensatory damages.
Roundup's maker Bayer claims the main chemical in the weedkiller is not cancer-causing, and the company is facing thousands of similar lawsuits.
This is the third time a jury has ruled against Bayer.
