Is Trump's movie tariff the answer to save Hollywood?
Last weekend, President Trump announced a bold new plan to revive Hollywood's failing film industry. In a Truth Social post, Trump said that Hollywood is “DYING a very fast death” due to foreign competition stealing American jobs. To counteract this, Trump has proposed slapping a 100 percent tariff on foreign films. Supporters cheer Trump’s America First vision, arguing it could bring back thousands of jobs lost in Los Angeles, preventing Hollywood from becoming the next Detroit. But critics, including Hollywood elites and globalists, warn the tariff could backfire, raising costs, killing exports, and sparking trade wars with countries like China. With Hollywood’s production down 40 percent and 18,000 jobs erased, will Trump’s tariff restore American filmmaking glory or be the final nail in its coffin?
