Florida State Seminoles freshman linebacker Ethan Pritchard is in critical but stable condition after being shot Sunday (August 31) night, Florida State University confirmed in a statement obtained by the Associated Press on Monday (September 1).

Pritchard was visiting family in Havana, Florida, when he was shot while inside a vehicle outside apartments, the department said.

“The Pritchard family is thankful for the support from so many people, as well as the care from first responders and medical professionals, and asks that their privacy be respected at this time,” FSU said in its statement. “Further updates will be provided as they are available."

Pritchard didn't appear in the Seminoles' 31-17 upset win against the No. 8 Alabama Crimson Tide at Doak S. Campbell Stadium on Saturday (August 30). The former Sanford High School standout rated as a three-star prospect and ranked as the No. 54 linebacker, No. 66 player from the state of Florida and the No. 507 overall prospect for the 2025 national recruiting cycle, according to the 247Sports Composite, which tabulates averages among the recruiting industries leading websites.

Pritchard signed his letter of intent in December and enrolled early at Florida State in January.

THIS IS A DEVELOPING STORY AND WILL BE UPDATED.
