Democrats scored a key victory after John Fetterman defeated Dr. Mehmet Oz in the race for Pennsylvania's Senate seat.
Fetterman will replace Republican Senator Pat Toomey who opted not to seek reelection.
As of 1 a.m ET, Democrats had 47 Senate seats compared to 46 held by Republicans. Races in Nevada, Arizona, Georgia, Hawaii, Alaska, and Wisconsin were still too close to call.
Republicans are still trying to regain control of the House of Representatives from the Democratic Party. They have a healthy lead over the Democrats as they try to reach the 219-seat threshold to become the majority party in the chamber.
