JAY-Z Calls Minnesota Governor To Demand Justice For George Floyd's Killing

JAY-Z is making it his personal duty to demand justice for the late George Floyd.

As per a press conference on Sunday (May 31), Minnesota Governor Tim Walz said that he received a call on Saturday night from the hip-hop titan to demand that all officers involved in Floyd's murder face jail time. Afterward, HOV took to Roc Nation's social media accounts to share a statement with the public. "After our very earnest conversation, thank you to Governor Walz for doing what's right and calling in Attorney General Keith Ellison to take over the George Floyd case," the star wrote in the message. "Earlier today, Governor Walz mentioned having a human conversation with me – a dad and a black man in pain. YES, I am human, a father and a black man in pain and I am not the only one."

Elsewhere, JAY-Z said that he looks on every form of law enforcement in the country to do the right thing. “I prevail on every politician, prosecutor, and officer in the country to have the courage to do what is right. Have the courage to look at us as humans, dads, brothers, sisters, and mothers in pain. And look at yourselves," he concluded.

Speaking with Minneapolis Fox 9, Walz reflected on his call with the industry heavyweight, admitting that he spoke to JAY-Z as a father and not an international performer. "It was so incredibly human," he said of their conversation. "It was a dad - and I think quite honestly a black man whose visceral pain of this that he knew. His words summarized that justice needs to be served here."

"He said he feels the compassion and the humanity of these folks who are speaking," Walz continued. "He knows the world is watching, and how Minnesota handles this is going to have an impact across the country. It's a positive sign that someone of a stature, that has a presence like that, is focused in the moment of what Minnesotas are focused on."
