The process to remove the Robert E. Lee monument in New Orleans is beginning and the mayor will be discussing the issue with the public.  Yesterday afternoon, NOLA reported preparations to remove the 130-year-old statue would start last night.  It is the last of four Confederate monuments to be brought down and relocated by order of Mayor Mitch Landrieu.

The report also says the mayor will be offering a public address on the monument issue this afternoon around 2 p.m. Central time.
